Fund Raising is the process through which a firm solicits financial commitments from limited partners for a private equity fund. Firms typically set a target when they begin raising the fund and ultimately announce that the fund has closed at a certain amount, meaning that no additional capital will be accepted.
Sometimes, however the firms distinguish between interim closings and final closings. The term "cap" is used to describe the maximum amount of capital a firm is willing to accept into its fund.
At Atlas, Fund Raising strategy involves the following:
- Conditioning factors for the design of a fundraising strategy.
- Requirements and tools for a fundraising strategy.
- Assessing the financial needs.
- Planning of fundraising.
We at Atlas consider that the fundraising system is much more capable and can support functionalities like data management, workflow management and knowledge management.
Data management is the core of any fundraising software system. It is what allows you to save, retrieve and sort data about your donors. The Workflow management capabilities allow data to flow through an office.
Knowledge Management (or decision support) functions are the latest additions to fundraising software. These are the tools that "crunch" through stored data to generate useful statistics. The purpose is to facilitate decision-making by simulating human analysis. Knowledge management capabilities range from assessing your return on investment for special events to analyzing donor potential in order to create special solicitations or cultivation lists.
Atlas can customize and add features like data conversion/import, online integration, e-mail, help and documentation functions and training, support, and maintenance in the user interface.
